Hi there! Ok, our tree is down and the last of the glitter has been swept up. I may still find a pine needle here or there in the next few months, but besides that, our home is a clean slate. I love decorating after Christmas. I like how calm everything looks and feels. And I love all of the cozy touches, like sweater pillows and baskets of firewood.

There is one foolproof trick to creating a cozy home for winter: using lots of texture. I, personally, also like to use neutrals in the wintertime. Grays, soft blues, white and cream dominate in our home throughout January and February.

Here are some wintry, cozy touches in our house. You'll find soft colors, lots of baskets and throws, snowy tree terrariums, and sweaters covering pillows and even candle holders. Pinecones are everywhere, too. My sweater vases even have little pinecone necklaces on them. Enjoy the tour!

Lazy Susan Coffee Station

Hey, hello, how are ya? I finished up a couple of projects in our never-ending kitchen reno this weekend and boy, does it feel good to check stuff off the list. First off, I finally got around to organizing our coffee supplies in one corner of our counter by upcycling an old lazy susan. I made a coffee station on top of the lazy susan and put it next to our Keurig so everything would be nice and handy. Oh, and I used an old mug tree I bought for a buck at a sidewalk sale, too. All I did to make it look cohesive is spray paint both the lazy susan and the mug tree with white spray paint, then I decoupaged a piece of decorative paper the same color as our turquoise coffee mugs to the top of the lazy susan using Mod Podge. I added my cow creamer and a sugar packet holder for tea bags and voila! I love that I can spin the lazy susan to access mugs hanging on the back of the mug tree. Pumpkin Patch Pudding Cups

Did you know Halloween is the third most popular holiday in America, topped only by Thanksgiving and Christmas? If you have kids, this probably comes as no surprise. Children anticipate Halloween almost as wildly as Christmas morning, mostly because of the candy, but also because of the fun class parties and costume parades that happen each year at school. I often volunteer for our kids' class parties because it's so fun to see all of the cuties in their costumes. Here's a Halloween class treat idea for you: Pumpkin Patch Pudding Cups Steps Tear the foil lids off of the pudding cups and line them up on a rimmed cookie sheet or tray to make them easier to carry. Sprinkle chocolate cookie crumbs (you can use finely-crushed Oreos if you can't find the boxed kind) on top of the pudding.
