Rain Boot Wreath

Gambar
Hi there! Over the weeeknd, I had a spark of inspiration when I spotted my daughter's old rain boots in the garage. She's outgrown them...why not use them on the front door to celebrate April showers? I simply cleaned them up, stuck in some artificial tulips, and tied them onto a navy and white chevron ribbon. I let the color of the boots inspire the yellow and navy color color scheme, but how cute would this be with a pair of red rain boots? I hope you like my rain boot wreath! Now let's bring on those May flowers! You May Also Like: Yarn Wreath with Nest Summer Front Door 10 Summer Wreaths

St. Patrick's Day Artichoke Dip and Homemade Spinach Chips

Gambar
Hey there! So are you ready for St. Patrick's Day? If not, I've got you covered today with a few ideas for celebrating. First, I realized recently that I've never shared my recipe for artichoke dip with you guys. This is probably the most-requested dish I make; everyone always asks me to make it for get-togethers. My artichoke dip is spinach-free...just lots of garlic and one special ingredient. So I thought...why not make it festive for St. Patrick's Day by adding the spinach, but in chip form instead? So, before making the dip I just cut some spinach tortilla wraps into wedges, tossed them in some olive oil and sea salt and baked them at 350 until they were crispy. Easy-peasy. Here's my recipe for artichoke dip: Best Ever Artichoke Dip 1 c. Hellman's mayo 1 c. grated Parmesan cheese 1 can artichoke hearts, drained and chopped 1-2 cloves garlic, minced 1/8 tsp. nutmeg Chop the artichokes, then blot them with a paper towel to remove excess moisture. Mix...

Spring Terrarium

Gambar
Hi, lovely friends and readers! Wanna see my latest kinda-craft project? I took my winter terrarium and converted it into a spring terrarium by removing the Epsom salts and replacing it with sheet moss. Then I just tied some bows around my felt bunnies and scattered some jelly beans around them. I love it but...my husband absolutely hates it. He says it's weird to put bunnies in glass jars and he feels bad for them. Hmmm...Have I gone too far this time? What do you think? Meh...I like it. It's staying. Oh, and I also put a nest under glass, on a cake stand. I like that, too. Seems I have an inner taxidermist just trying to get out. Spring Mantel (And a Good Story)

Gambar
Hi there! Well, it's still in the 'teens here in Northeast Ohio, but the inside of our house is shoutin' spring. I've finished putting out all of my bunnies, nests, and flowering branches, and wanted to show you how my mantel turned out. I went all-in with my favorite colors of green and blue this year and just went around gathering things from around the house that were in these colors so I didn't have to buy anything. I love propping things in the corner of that empty blue frame--like this bird's nest. And I still really like using my fabric-covered orbs . Most importantly, though, you may remember that the oil painting was a Goodwill score from a couple of weeks ago. Well, there was a sticker on the back with the name of the artist and the area he was from. I just had to Google it, of course, and this is what I found out. This painting was done by Herb Wood, a decorated World War II and Korean War veteran of De Soto, Kansas, who entered the milita...

Easter Cupcakes

Gambar
Good morning! I've got two super-easy Easter cupcake ideas for you today that you will for sure want to pin, especially if you have kiddos. Both of these don't even require recipes, which make them perfect for even novice bakers to pull off. First off, check out these too-cute brownie bird nest cupcakes. For these, all I did was fill a muffin pan with brownie batter made from a mix and bake. (I decreased the baking time by about 10 minutes and just kept checking on them to make sure they didn't get too done.) As soon as I pulled them out of the oven, I used the back of a spoon to make a little depression in each. After removing them from the pan and letting them cool completely, I placed them on a bed of coconut tinted with some green food coloring, and placed three chocolate eggs in each. I would've enjoyed the coconut on the brownie itself, but my family wasn't so sure, so I just used it as a garnish. Would you like another idea for Easter cupcakes? Here ...

Hey guys! How is your Monday going? We spent the weekend catching up on work, grocery shopping, getting a jump on the laundry, and staring disconsolately out at the snow. Nothing too exciting. So I pulled together some ideas for decorating for St. Patrick's Day that are heavy on the green, and light on leprechauns and rainbows.
