Dining Room Lighting Upgrade
Hi there! I love a good lighting makeover, don't you? Turning boob lights into fashionable fixtures, DIY-ing a lampshade, or just spray painting lamps...it's all fun stuff to me. Recently, I was asked to partner with Parrot Uncle, a worldwide retailer of creative lighting fixtures, so I jumped at the chance. See, our spray painted chandelier had worn out its welcome. I loved how simple and effective it was to transform that dated builder-grade brass beauty; but, the simple truth was, it was hung way too high. And short of re-wiring it, there was no way to lower it. So...I had my eye on one of these:
And without further ado, here's our new chandelier:
Pretty, huh? We like it. It has a modern yet industrial edge to it that I like, and once I paint the dining room chairs black and we finish things off with accessories and stuff, I think it will really fit in nicely. Plus, I like how it closely matches the pendants we have hanging over our peninsula. See?
If you want to shop for a wide selection of lighting in one place, Parrot Uncle truly has it all. I'm talking everything, people. I saw fixtures on their site I've never seen anywhere else. The prices are decent, too. Now, there is a caveat. Although they offer free shipping and free returns, their shipping methods are...unconventional, to say the least. My piece came from China where they are headquartered, and I didn't have to wait a real long time, surprisingly; however, not surprisingly, the glass shade was chipped and cracked in several places. They immediately sent me a new one, which arrived wrapped in so much bubble wrap, our two kids could get lost in it. I took a picture, it was so funny. This time, the glass was perfectly intact, but it didn't fit properly. Sad. So here's my final word on Parrot Uncle. Awesome--and I mean awesome--selection with fair prices. Pretty good on customer service, too. But if you want something large and very fragile, hmmmm...maybe not. But again, it may be worth a shot if you're looking for something truly unique!
