5 Simple Cinco de Mayo Ideas



Hey there, Happy Monday! Here we are in the last full week of April, can you believe it? Wasn't it just Christmas? So, today I'm talking about Cinco de Mayo. Who doesn't love an excuse to get together on a random Tuesday to drink a margarita and eat tacos? While we aren't necessarily in the habit of inviting people over in the middle of the week (ya know...after school activities and homework and bedtimes kinda get in the way of that once you have kids), these simple ideas make me think it wouldn't be so hard to throw an impromptu Cinco de Mayo party. And lately I've been thinking we need to inject a little more fun into our everyday.

These easy ideas for hosting a Cinco de Mayo happy hour, or just a regular Taco Tuesday get-together, don't require a lot of effort or time or money. So what are you waiting for? Let's Fiesta!

Bright Flowers--Buy 3 or 4 bunches of grocery store bouquets in the brightest colors you can find and mix them together.

Tin Cans as Vases--Save some Mexican food cans to use as vases for those bright flowers, or stick some succulents or cacti in them. (A little plastic burro doesn't hurt. How cute is he?)

Decorate with Produce--Fill a vase with a variety of peppers for a themed focal point you can eat afterwards. Just a bowl of limes would be cute, too.

Display a Sombrero--Hang a sombrero on the wall or just place one on the table. This one was spray painted gold, making it a little more sophisticated.

Serape Table Runner--Fold a serape length-wise and use it as a table runner.

Peaches and Cream Scones

Good morning, sunshines! Sadly, peach season is coming to a rapid close, but before it's gone for another year, you've gotta try these scones! They taste like peach cobbler that you can hold in your hand! If you recall, I rounded up some great peach recipes for you a few weeks back, and this was one I just had to try myself. Hey there! Happy Monday! Have you undecorated for Christmas yet? I have to do a decoration detox for a bit after the holidays. I keep the decor to a minimum, but around now, I start to think about Valentine's Day decorations. I think it's hard to work with red and pink since our house is mostly blue, gray and green.
