Craft of the Week: Ombre Lampshade

This week's COW is this awesome ombre-effect lampshade brought to you by Creatively Living. I love when you can achieve a very of-the-moment look with just a few supplies. Investment pieces, like furniture, are good to keep neutral, but you can go hog-wild with accessories like Katie did by purchasing a second-hand lamp, seeing its beauty, and thinking out of the box with a basic lampshade. Love it! And of course, I'm a big fan of the colors she chose. And if you can allow me to rave a bit more...I adore the modern lamp beside the traditional painting. Ok, I'm done.

Lazy Susan Coffee Station

Hey, hello, how are ya? I finished up a couple of projects in our never-ending kitchen reno this weekend and boy, does it feel good to check stuff off the list. First off, I finally got around to organizing our coffee supplies in one corner of our counter by upcycling an old lazy susan. I made a coffee station on top of the lazy susan and put it next to our Keurig so everything would be nice and handy. Oh, and I used an old mug tree I bought for a buck at a sidewalk sale, too. All I did to make it look cohesive is spray paint both the lazy susan and the mug tree with white spray paint, then I decoupaged a piece of decorative paper the same color as our turquoise coffee mugs to the top of the lazy susan using Mod Podge. I added my cow creamer and a sugar packet holder for tea bags and voila! I love that I can spin the lazy susan to access mugs hanging on the back of the mug tree. IKEA Hack: Leksvik Cabinet

Hey there, party people! How are you? I love a good IKEA hack, don't you? I've got to show you our Leksvik cabinet. We've had this thing forever. I have this to say about IKEA furniture: It lasts. A long time ago I painted our cabinet cream. It served many purposes...as a dining room hutch, as a place to store our printer when our home office was in the dining room, as a food pantry when our kitchen was being remodeled, and most recently, as a useless piece of furniture in our family room. Here it is, sad and pointless: But then we decided to get a TV for that room because we hated not being able to enjoy the fireplace and watch TV at the same time. So we took the doors off the top of our old IKEA Leksvik cabinet, and put the TV in it. Unfortunately, the TV stood out like a sore thumb and it looked like we took the doors off an old IKEA cabinet.
