Craft of the Week: Leaf Stepping Stones

Happy Labor Day, lovelies! I hope you've got some fun plans for the day. I think we're heading out after I write this post and finish my coffee...maybe for a hike, maybe to an antiques festival...and hopefully we'll stop for lunch for somewhere. Don't you just love a 3-day weekend?

If you DON'T have plans for the day, might I suggest this fun family activity? Go for a walk and collect some leaves (they're getting ready to fall in our neck of the woods), and then make these pretty stepping stones that would make a great addition to your yard. Thanks to Garden Therapy for the inspiration and directions...I have just the spot for these!

Lazy Susan Coffee Station

Hey, hello, how are ya? I finished up a couple of projects in our never-ending kitchen reno this weekend and boy, does it feel good to check stuff off the list. First off, I finally got around to organizing our coffee supplies in one corner of our counter by upcycling an old lazy susan. I made a coffee station on top of the lazy susan and put it next to our Keurig so everything would be nice and handy. Oh, and I used an old mug tree I bought for a buck at a sidewalk sale, too. All I did to make it look cohesive is spray paint both the lazy susan and the mug tree with white spray paint, then I decoupaged a piece of decorative paper the same color as our turquoise coffee mugs to the top of the lazy susan using Mod Podge. I added my cow creamer and a sugar packet holder for tea bags and voila! I love that I can spin the lazy susan to access mugs hanging on the back of the mug tree. Something about the start of a new school year just screams, "Get organized!" at me. And this year, our oldest started kindergarten (sniff) so I'm even more crazed to purge, sort, and stack. DIY Wall Decals

Hey, hey, did you have a great Mother's Day?  Low-key here, but nice.  Church, followed by planting zinnia seeds (an Ott girl tradition), followed by a vanilla latte at Barnes & Noble with a stack of magazines, finished off with pizza and a movie with my man.  I'll take it.  Anyhoo, I had a brainstorm while looking at aforementioned magazines, and I'm not sure I'm gonna execute the idea or not--but you'll be the first to know if I do, of course.  It has to do with wall decals, though, which caused me to ogle all of the DIY wall decals in the blogosphere.  Here are my favorite ways to decorate a wall with DIY decals made from vinyl or washi tape.
